„THE OBJECT AFFAIR OR GOOD INTENTIONS“
In 1960s Yugoslavia, a previously unknown military elite decided to collect international artworks. Stored in the Konjic bunker, the collection was hidden not only from the general public, but also from the Communist party itself.
A young policeman from Eastern Bosnia with an interest in contemporary art was appointed as the bunker’s infrastructure intendant. Henceforth, Officer K. is the only member of the bunker’s personnel to be initiated into this secretive art-object affair. His undercover mission is to acquire works of art by renowned artists and covertly transfer them into the bunker.
Elvedin Klačar was able to track down officer K., who has been living in Western European in exile since the Balkan wars began in 1992. In the interview, K. talks about his political intentions and often bizarre methods of art acquisition.
Art objects purchased by K.:
- Coat Hook by Marcel Duchamp
- Fabric doors of Eva Hesse
- Carpet rolls by Richard Serra
